Mommy and Me Class and Mojo Mondays!

Be sure to check out my "catching up" photo collection at the end of the post!!
Hi, Creative Chicas!  Another fun and wonderful Monday at The Art Gallery!  To get our Monday rolling, we started with Alexa and Mom, Laura, at our Mom and Me class.  We used sponge painting and hammered out our eyelets, with young Alexa, helping out, to create our "Clockworks" gear card!  This stamp set has so many wonderful elements:  gears, a 3-D watch, smudges and swirls!  These are great for the vintage, distressed and fun designs we made.

Then it was a 180 degree turn to a pretty in pink, birthday cake card, complete with our beautiful punch out butterfly and learning to use the magic bow maker (thanks to stamping demo goddess, Lee Conrey of Jacksonville, Fl!  Alexa took nearly all of our Art Explosion Kids' Camp stamping classes and amazed us all with her great focus and abilities.  It's easy to tell from where she gets her talent and sweet personality.

Our Mojo Monday creative Cards Class later that day started with something other than cards!  We created beautiful coasters by stamping stone-tumbled tiles with Stazon Ink and beautiful retired (but still loved) stamps from Stampin' Up.  We sponged the edges, added felt pads on the bottom corners and tied them up with ribbon.  Great gifts to keep or give!!  The tiles were ALL so unique and beautiful.  I secretly wanted them all!  New student Jo impressed us all with her great ideas and eye for design!  A special thanks goes out to Nancy and Debby for helping me to wash off and dry the 30 or so tiles prior to class so that we wouldn't have dusty hands like Olympic gymnasts!!  :-)

And this was just the beginning of our 2-hour class!!  We then created the sweet pocket folder (pictured below)  and note-pad holder that incorporated embossing, die cuts, eyelets, a little stamping with VersaMark, and a little tricky cutting!  I cut down the mini paper pads with my heavy duty paper trimmer, Carl.  I wasn't sure that he could handle it but handle it he did!!  The first visitor to this post that leaves a comment gets a great set of stamps.  Back to Carl, it only took 4 back and forth swipes to do the job!  He is the answer to my heavy duty paper trimmer dreams!  Carl is very handy for cutting 6 or 7 pieces of cardstock at once!

Next week our 2-a-Monday schedule resumes for the month of August, with 2-hour classes offered at 10:30  am and 1:30 pm.  We will create a similar, yet different version of today's butterfly card and feature a new technique on a second project.
